Saturday 9/24/22 Update

Saturday Morning update 9/24/22

We are happy everyone is ok, as far as we know… Many check-ins have happened, not 100% yet, but so far, so good.

  • The site will be back open Sunday (25th), so you can come in, if your travel path is safe, or stop in anytime whether scheduled or not, to charge your phones, tablets and have a warm, safe place to recharge.
  • There are still tropical force winds and storms in the area today, but overall residents feel a major bullet was dodged with mostly just tree and power line damage from the brunt of it overnight (https://www.accuweather.com/en/ca/nova-scotia/weather-radar).
  • Sr Management, living nearby, checked on the call center site a short time ago.
  • Upon cursory review the site is fine, was some water in a low laying vestibule / reception area that needed a mop.
  • Site was fully up, on generator power, diesel is 91% full currently, and had internet connectivity, etc.
  • With the depression still upon the area and the shelter in place orders, and trees and power lines fresh down on most roads, we will not be opening the physical Sydney call center site back up until Sunday.
  • We have not been able to ascertain yet from many of our Work @ Home staff how many of you are safe, still have power/internet and are safe to work, etc. A text message will come out asking. Please fill out this survey ——->
  • Work @ Home employees that were scheduled for shift today 9/24 remain excused if you for whatever reason could not work any or all of their shift, but if you are safe have access and can help with inbound, please do.
  • By the looks of the outage maps, we believe that a decent amount of our remote workers still have power, and that more dense areas outages will be restored over the coming days~week  (http://outagemap.nspower.ca/external/default.html)
  • Anyone who normally works @ home, but cannot, will be asked on Monday to return the office, and work your shifts their this week, until your work @ home situation is viable again.
  • We will be reasonable with workers, over the next week, or two, pertaining to a possible increased need for full or partial absences dealing with aftermath.
  • Currently a handful of Nova Scotian Work @ Home workers are logged in, once the storm passes, we will message more asking if you are OK, and if so, if your internet/power works, and if so, ask you to log in, even if for a short while, if able, to help with any problematic inbound client queues.
  • Our clients need us to pivot back to business as usual (BAU) as quickly as possible whether the work is performed onsite, or from home they and their customers are counting on us.
  • Be safe, always!

Thank you for all you do for SCC and our wonderful clientele!
